Lixit Waterer's and Bottles
We have both waterer's and bottles. Main dog area has several screw on (to faucets and outdoor hydrants. My brother ran a special water line to the dogs room and down so that all I had to do was screw the faucet on to the threaded pipe. I take the Hydrant ones off for the winter because of freezing. Then we have several of the bottles for quarantine areas and puppy training. They all leak a little but I just keep a pan under the one's in the house. ( I'm not sure they leak as much as the girls like to play with them. ) They always have fresh water and the mess is 1000% less. (Lucy is part hippo and loves to wallow in the water dish I bought my last ones on Amazon.com
Re: Lixit Waterer's and Bottles
We use this type of water bottle holder in the house and on the crates:

hahaha that eggs whites?
I always have to clean the dish after Josie drinks because she leaves behind the "egg whites." I need a drinking water solution as well. tee hee
I did a google search for them..
but could only find the lixit bottle
can you post a pic of what you have there...
I find that I am forever filling the water dish
so something like what you are mentioning maybe will work a bit better
I also do not like the YUCKY water once they drank out of the bowl for them either.
thanks for your imput
Lixits
My kids all drink from lixits. I started using it in the whelping box/ area. I was afraid of the babies crawling in the bowl and drowning--felt not an unrealistic worry as I was always plucking one out of the food dish. Babies learned to drink from Mom's lixit very quickly. Finally converted everyone over to lixits. Like the fact that the water is always fresh--you know how Bullies can take one drink from a bowl and water turns thick, slimey, nasty. I don't have to worry about them dumping bowls and having no water. I am not talking about lixit bottles that always seem to drip. I have the lixit nozzles that connect directly to a water source like a faucet, hose, or pipe.
