We are wondering how long it takes to regrow tail fur that was shaved for a procedure. It's been since the end of July and a small amount has grown back. Thank you for your help.

We will definately try to find that on line - and you are right, his poor tail looks just like elephant skin! Many thanks! I don't know of a feed store near our area? Is there a place on line that carries it?

We have been using pill pockets but are expensive with two pups taking meds every day plus the calorie count is adding up.
Sarge had an infection in his very deep tail pocket and had to be shaved clean to medicate properly. Sarge and his daddy moved back East after living in the West for years. Maybe change in climate here caused the infection and they had a 3,000 mile, 5 day truck rental ride to bring their furniture. We are concerned as the tail fur regrowth is unbelievably slow. He never had these problems living in the western state for some reason.

Hi everyone just wanted to share a product that I have been using for a long time now I first started using it three years ago when my female bullie rubbed her tail intill it looked like eleghant skin I though I would never get that hair to grow back, My friend that has horses told be about a product called Nu-Stock and it growns hair back fast I get it at my local feed store. Here are the ingredients: 73% Sulfur, 2% Pine oil and 25% Mineral oil it smells pretty bad but this really works good on hot spot and to grow hair back. I don't know if posting the number here is ok so if you can't find it and need the number please e-mail me or just let me know if it is ok to post there number. P.S. that same female bullie is a champion now.

Thanks so much, I have Vit. E capsules and will get the C. I have worried about the exposed tail for injury. Currently no antibiodics. There are probiodics in the food - is that enough?

We thank you for the messages on Probotics and also that the yoghert is a good source. You are right about the immune system needing to be built up again, just like we do. How do you give the Vit. C - in a tablet form or crushed up in food? This bare tail has been a big concern as we hate to see infection set in with no protection.

probitics being any where enough from a bag of kibble.....no get some from the store....antibotics are needed,,,,but they do a good job of breaking down the good bacteria in the guts.....i wis vets would just people add some yogurt....or get some probitics and add it to the food..... animals are like humans after we go thru surgery we need to take extra vits....we need to add protein to our foods...and our pets are no different... their immune systems get knocked down to...

Thank you so much, we haven't been giving any vitamens - what do you use? Just seemed like longer than normal and the little nub of the tail is not protected.

had horses and that works....
good....
We usually recommend probiotics to be given
in conjunction with antibiotics, to settle the gut and help the dog stablize while undergoing treatment for a particular infection.
