Stinky Feet - Need Suggestions

Roxy has really been licking her feet lately. She has always done it, but it's been worse lately. She has allergies, which I assume give her the itchy feet. The allergies are environmental, so we really can't get rid of them (unless we have her live in a plastic bubble!!)
Anyway - with all of the licking, her feet are really getting stinky. I can smell them when we are sitting on the couch together.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to clean them, or something to soak them in? Just wiping with baby wipes isn't cutting it.

I appreciate your help.

Re: Stinky Feet - Need Suggestions

We were told to do epsom salts on our bullies feet when he was having skin allergies. We did put some in a container that we could cover his foot in the water and soak for little bits of time then do it again. He did not seem to mind but did get bored! Typical bullie!

as needed..

I bathe my dogs at least ever two weeks in winter and weekly in summer. Junior had a bath a week ago, but he was licking his feet last night and today, so I dipped them and dried well.

I think they itch and then the dog licks and the saliva makes them itch more. If you wash it off, it helps relieve the itch.

That's just my theory.

How often?

How often do you give feetie baths?

I give feetie baths between baths..

I use a plastic bowl (or large yogurt container)and fill it half way with warm water and a couple of drops of shampoo. I rinse in another container of clear water and dry with a towel, making sure to get between toes and under pads. It seems to stop the licking.

i dont like using baby wipes so much..

because its not truly clean, i feel like with even a little soap in it, it kinda leaves a residue.

so i use a warm washcloth, first with a little baby soap throughout, then clean towel rinse twice... , rinsing the towel thoroughly in between, all three times, the towels are pretty much really wringed out so it doesnt leave very much moisture behind... i just keep a towel just for this hanging in the kitchen!

i do this like every 8-12 days because my ladies have this issue as well. gabby loves to eat her feet!
