sigh, this saga continues;
Stella has broken out into what looks like hives on her belly and one leg.
I called the vet and she said it is likely a reaction to the antibiotics and to take her off them and monitor the pustules to make sure they don't flare up. I have some good oatmeal shampoo and I will keep her really clean.
The Bulldog vet emailed me and said she looked at Stella's x rays and her hips are shallow but that doesn't seem too out of the norm for a bulldog, but that she does see arthritis in her knees.
So, once I get the Dr. Pitcairn book I will look at what I can augment her nutrition for the arthritis.
And, her face is pink on the white parts, I don't really know what's going on with that.
I don't know if that's normal or a reaction to the antibiotics as well?
Thanks for your help everyone, you have no idea how much relief it brings me to know I have a group of such wonderful supportive people to turn to who are so knowledgeable!
Thanks
Tiffany and Stella
I am going to ask the vet about adequan
Thank you for the recommendation!
Tiffany and Stella
No, I let the Vet give the Adequan
Only because I'm not comfortable giving an injection in the muscle. If it were sub q, I would do it myself.
Cephalexin is one of the few ab's I can take but everyone and every dog is different.
she's on cephalexin
The vet told me to take her off it and just keep an eye to make sure the staph doesn't flair up again.
I want to try the adequan, do you order it and inject it yourself?
Thanks for the input
Tiffany and Stella
What ab's was she on?
I'm allergic to lots of ab's and have broken out in hives a couple of times. I don't think I would use the oatmeal shampoo on her as she may be allergic to it as well. I would give benadryl to help with the itching and I highly recommend Adequan for arthritis.
