Lilli woke up yesterday squinting with one eye. I looked and couldn't see anything in it. I put some eye drops in hoping it would wash something out if there were something there. As the day went on, she would open her eye more but it looked kind of cloudy. Same thing happened this morning. She seems to see fine. I put some puralube in thinking it might be somewhat dry.
She was fine Monday. Could it be the result of some allergy? She seems to be itching a lot today.
I would also book a recheck at the vet..
ulcers are not something to take lightly.
I had a pug here that had one and it did not clear up at the end of antibiotics. had I not had the recheck I do not think I would have seen that.
so might want to do a recheck to be sure.
vision is vitally important for any breed.

good to hear it's being treated
could have been major problems if you would have left it!
hugs to the baby

Back fron the vet
Thanks everyone for the advice. She did have the start of a small ulcer and was put on an antibiotic ointment for 10 days.
We're not sure what caused it but hopefully we caught it soon enough and will be fine.

I agree. Sudden onset and cloudy eye definitely calls for
a vet visit, unless it's something you've dealt with before and you have the correct meds for it. You don't want to use anything with a steroid in it if there is an eye ulcer.

Re: Squinting
She may have scratched her eye and has an ulcer. This is something that needs to be taken care of by a vet. She may have scratched her eye with her dew claw or rubbed her face and scratched it. A squint is usually a sure sign that she may have a scratch. I would take her in as soon as you can to get the correct medications. The vet will be able to do a stain and see with a special light and then give you the correct medications to help it heal.
