Sarge had an injection of Ventalog 3 weeks ago and the spinning stopped. Started again but we don't want him to get steriods all his life for that. The pocket is clean and anal glands are fine - ears are clear. We read something of the tail growing inside and causing this? Has anyone heard of that? Thanks.
instead of te shot....
try using prep h in the tail pocket or vagisil cream.... i use that on wilson because he has a real deep tail pocket...and i have to keep it from being moist because his tail hole is tight....in the summer i also use witch hazel...dry it out then apply the vagisl....try these two products first....
just remember prep h has a steroid in it....so dont use it long term,,,,
Injection of Ventalog stopped spinning for 3 weeks
The doctor gave him an injection of Ventalog 3 weeks ago and there was No spinning during that the 3 weeks. He said if it stopped, that would mean there is an inflammation, although all checked out fine. If he was still spinning after the injection, it might me a behavior? This is the puzzle as it is a steriod, we cannot use it continually.
Spinning on tail
oh my goodness, that sounds very painful and good that you had the procedure on her tail. They seem to have problems with their tails so often. I'll check for the dry skin, too, especially in the cold weather. Thanks for the help, we appreciate it.
maybe he likes it because....
my wonder boy wilson.....i do not have carpet in my house...to many years of raising dogs.....my mother has wall to wall carpet.....needless to say wilson sits down and stars draging his rear all over the carpet....and of course everyone thinks it funny and they'll laugh and he goes faster....
i did not know a dog could go as fast with his butt dragging on the floor.....and some times he spins in a circle!!!!
yes,first hand....
I have a 5 yr old girl that when I had her tail removed the vet had a hard time, her tail had grown straight back into her body. The part closest to the exterior of her body had fur ut the rest was decaying.Needless to say I am sure this was very discomforting for her.
Also check his body fur along the back
because sometimes this "itching" is a result of dry skin, shampoo residue left on the dog, fleas, and other causes that bring forth an itch which cannot be satisfied/reached, so the dog spins.
