Sore jaw or something else?

Our 3yr old male is having problems opening his mouth wide. He won't even let us open & have a look.
He eats & barks OK. But he'll cry if he goes to yawn (open his mouth wide)
Has anyone came across this before? I'm bringing him to the vet tomorrow for x rays.

me too, they couldn't find anything wrong

did a full work up. but still having issues ongoing sort of off and on. They have meds for her to keep on hand that are an anti inflamitory and pain med. But do to her age they are hesitant to do much else. They do seem to help her, it is weird though mostly it doesn't bother her at all not eating or anything. But out of the blue when she opens her mouth REALLY wide. she will cry out. Hope everything works out and thanks for responding.

Re: just wondering what your vet said about this

The vet said that it more likely a mild case of Masticatory Myositis. We did X-ray him and found nothing. She (the vet) put him on Prednisone 5mg.
Hope it works.

just wondering what your vet said about this

Yes...should respond to proper treatment and resolve

and in the meantime, you may need to soften his food or provide other 'assistance' to be sure he is able to eat and drink as needed.
