We have beed debating weather to breed our female Pepper. She is about 5 years old and has never been bread. She is a big girl, and has an elongated palate. I feel that it is not a good idea, becuase i think that with the extra weight and the elongated palate would complicate the situation. I am just courious if you all have had any issues with this type of situation.

The elongated palate is a genetic defect
It can be passed along to the puppies. No dog should be bred that has a genetic defect.
we also say not
why put your loved on in such a dangerous situation, could get very risky

I'll 2nd that, NOT! n/m
Not..
Pregnancy is very hard for a bulldog without the added stress of an elongated palate. It could be very dangerous for your girl.

I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

We had this same debate with our boy Dozer..
And after reading all the material on this great website and noticing our boy had a few genetic issues such as cherry eye, we decided it just wasn't worth the risk and we really didn't have what it took to be a bullie breeder. So we got our boy snipped and he's the most wonderful pet we could ever hope for. We leave the breeding to the experts.
