Rotisserie Chicken

My Sally ate everything except the chicken breasts of a rotisserie chicken that I bought, precooked, from the store. So she ate both leg bones, the wings and the rest of the carcass.

Should I worry? Take her to the vet? Saw someone reccomend feeding her white rice, so that it will stick to the bones.

Help.

Another Update

I have determined that she has digested most of the bones in her stomach, with the exception of some residual matter that was very hard when it came out. When she did poop it out, it was coated in the rice (digested rice, not literally white coated poop).

She did this about four times.

My only issue now is confirming whether or not she has digested all the bones - I don't want to assume that she did in fact already digest everything except what I saw come out.

I fed her a small portion of her regular kibble this morning and took her to work with me.

She just pooped a normal load, so all would appear to be ok.

She was also completely back to her old self all day yesterday and today.

I did feel the poop!

She was lucky!

And so were you!! happy.gif

Status

I gave sally some rice, and she seems to be slowly passing the bones. Seems like they have been broken down quite a bit by her stomach acids. But, what is left is very hard. The rice does seem to be sticking to the bone residue quite well. She has pooped now twice since she has been on rice. She did throw up just a bit ago though.

She still has her normal appetite and energy.

If things do not get better, I will take her to the vet tomorrow.

i know this might sound gross, but you need to

feel the poo for the bones.. when my gabby ate 3 chicken wings, i was able to peice together back 2 and half, so i felt better after knowing that i got most of it out!

Vomiting could very well be signaling a blockage.

Call Vet ASAP

Cooked bones have a chance of splintering in the intestines, and sometimes surgery is necessary. Call your vet to get advice on this one. I wouldn't take any chances.
