Rocco Eye "Bubble" (Pix)

Hi all,

Love to lurk around and read up on stuff that's going on, great community for sure...

On to business, Poor Rocco occasionally gets what I call an eye bubble. Not sure what it is exactly, but it's always subsided in a few hours. But in the same instance, it does come back every so often.

It's hard to describe so I was able to take a pic or two of the affected eye. Is it a stye? What should I do about it? I've made vet appointments when it's occurred, but in 2 hours it's gone.

This is one I took when it first started....

Here is one after about an hour

Interesting

Yeah, his eyes normally aren't red when this happens, it's just the bubble that you see...and it goes away in 2-3 hours.

Not enough time to get a vet appt and get him there so they can diagnose. It doesn't seem to bother Rocco in the least, but I certainly don't want to jeopardize his eyesight...

is it the same vet

that did the tacking? i'm not an expert, but i've heard that it doesn't always work forever. if it were me, i would get a second vet opinion, or contact the vet that did the tacking & ask about it. but as long as you can massage it back in, it should be ok. i guess it scares us more than it bothers them =)

that`s funny..

my boy gets that sometimes and vet told me it is not cherry eye, just irritation in the eye. Once the "bubble" was like a big balloon over his eyeball. He did have cherry eye tacking as a baby. Now I wonder. I massage it back in with eye lube when I see it.

here`s what my vet said

it was not cherry eye because it was white, not red. Also that the tacking was done at 13 weeks of age and now he is 5 1/2. I was told if it was going to pop out again, it would have happened within 3 weeks after the tacking. The eye specialist did the tacking. The time there was a big bubble over his whole eye was weird though. I just keep his eyes well lubricated also because he has mild entropion.
So now I actually wonder if it is cherry eye because the pics look just like his eyes get occasionally, but why no red??

yup. Cherry Eye. Gently push it back in..

As soon as you see it, close his eye and put gentle pressure on the inner corner and it should go back in.

My dog had one and after gently pushing it back in a few times, it never popped out again. If it continues to pop out or won't go back in, you will need to get it tacked or clipped.

yep- cherry eye. you can

actually massage it back in when you notice it, so it won't be "out" so long. i don't have the link to the video, but i think there was one on here a while back to show you how to do it. my cooper gets it alot & all i do is kind of gently push it down & in towards his inner eye & it usually goes right back in. after a couple of times, it's super easy. good luck!
