Audrey's face, especially the skin around her right eye, is very red. I know she's been scratching it, I am in the process of switching her to a grain free food to see if it helps, but the skin seems to be staying so red. Can that be from food allergies?

Yes, it can
My suggestion would be to help 'break the itch cycle' and give her one Benadryl tablet this evening and again tomorrow morning. Are you starting her on the new food yet? Remember to do so gradually over one weeks time: mixing 1/4 new with 3/4 old for 2-3 days, then half/half for another 2/3 days and if okay at that point, go to 3/4 new with 1/4 old for last 2-3 days. This slow process should avoid diarrhea that often accompanies rapid dietary changes.
Consider switching to a "fruit" treat...
In most places you can purchase dried apple slices in small bags like potato chips...or maybe you can make your own by drying them in the oven (?) but you might want to try giving one of those as a special treat.
Treat exchange
Hi Cathy, another BDWer shared their "treat" switch with me. I put Josies kibble in a little bowl and if i am eating something for a snack, i just reach in her bowl and give her a couple of pieces of kibble. she is happy, and doesn't feel left out. You are right it is hard, Josie always got a little snip of whatever I had (within reason)and i had to stop that with her skin issues. J & T
Thanks!
Yes I am starting the change, and I have been doing it gradually. So far no diarrhea. I also stopped using the Angel's Eyes. I wonder if that's why her face has been itchier? Her right eye, the white one, looks puffy to me and the skin is red.I saw her scratch it on the corner of the cabinets a few days ago, but I wouldn;t think it would stay puffy and red for days. We also stopped giving her treats and people food with grains,(A lot harder than I thught it would be!)

switching her to TOTW Salmon
from Royal Canin puppy. She gets yogurt too, and she was getting a flax & fish oil omega 3 & 6 supplement but now I have just been giving her an omega 3 capsule. She has always had a yeasty, smelly, itchy face and the Angel's Eyes really cleared up the smell. I guess it helped with some of the itchiness too because she satred scratching a lot more when I took her off it. I'm just not comfortable with long term tylosin though.

what food are you putting her on???
