Recommendations for puppy kibble

Hello...I'm researching good puppy food and wanted to take an inventory on what puppy foods this forum recommends for Bullies. Also how long should I keep my pup on it? I've heard contrary advice...some say only 4 months and my breeder doesn't even think English pups should be on puppy kibble at all because of the high protein content. I'm looking for a high quality kibble that will keep my Bullie healthy and help him fill out appropriately without gaining too much weight of course. My little guy is currently 11 weeks old and currently on a mix of C. Natural and Canidae.

Also what are your thoughts on adding some canned food to the dry kibble?

Thanks!

Re: just add a tablespoon or two to the food..it is very very ri

Thanks for the advice!!

just add a tablespoon or two to the food..it is very very rich..

I used the California natural, the lamb and rice. I had a boston at time with big allergies and that was the dogfood recommended by the vet.
it worked out great..cleared the alergies right up
California natural has very simple ingredients.
I would just add a tablespoon or two on her dogfood.just to give her a change and encourage her to eat better.she was very slight.
the problem with moist is once they get it..
they always will look for it

something to think about
My bullies just get dry food here all the time
no moist at all
once in awhile might buy a can for a treat but not on a regular basis

Re: California Natural is a great food...

Thanks for the info!I have the California Natural Chicken and rice mixed in with the Canidae all stages, which the breeder had him on. I'm going to try just the C. Natural beause both foods might be too rich for him. What's the moist that C. Natural recommends that you recommend? And if I want to try the moist food would I mix it in with the dry--ie. half dry, half moist?

Re: I feed whatever the breeder is feeding

Thanks for the info! I am currently feeding the breeder's regimen (she had him on C. Natural and Canidae, mixed in with some frozen biljac.) I've done the C. Natural and Canidae together but not the biljac because it's not available in my area. The pup has soft stool so that's why I might need to change.I'm going to try just the C. Natural puppy and see if he does better.

California Natural is a great food...

you can get it in moist as well as dry
but if you puppy is happy already
why not just stay on the same food that you are feeding
and keep on that..
and not add anything to do it at all

california natural does have nice moist food to supplement though too
if you just want a change a bit
but watch out your bulldog might expect it all the time then...along with the dry..

I feed whatever the breeder is feeding

To keep the puppy from getting an upset stomach. I then slowly switch to a good all stages food at about 14 weeks. I am currently feeding Natural Balance sweet potato and fish.
