Raw diet diary day 2

Very happy to report still no vomiting! She had her morning poo and it's still significantly less than normal, and very firm. I am using the Primal feeding guidelines and it seems like so MUCH food compared to what she used to get. The woman at the store said in her experience most dogs tone up and lose body fat when switched to raw. I asked the vet, and he said Audrey was at an ideal weight. He was very impressed that you can see a well defined waistline (that Tuck-up I thought meant she was too thin!)on a bulldog because in his experience too many bulldogs don't have that. He said that since she's a year old now and just got spayed her metabolism is going to slow down, so if this diet causes weight loss in most dogs hopefully for her it will help maintain her current weight with her slower metabolism, but if she lost a pound or two it wouldn't hurt her. Her face is still stained, but there is definitely no further, new staining. Her nose rope(under it) was very dirty and stinky yesterday, and it is stained dark reddish brown also. Yesterday her eyes were much dryer than normal, but she had a very lazy sleepy day. My thoughts are that the stain is not going to just disappear until it fades away or new hair replaces the stained hair. I am not going to try to bleach it or chemically change it because I want to be certain that when it's gone it's gone for good because of the food change. Her coat is SO SOFT and shiny! She's still very excited at feeding time and seems to love this food.

feeding amount guidelines

I find that the amount on the bag is usually way too much to feed. If you think it's alot of food, then it probably is. My dog did terrific on the raw diet for several years. It's great for allergies. Good Luck! Primal is a very good choice.

awesome site! Thanks!

It is so nice for me to be able to buy food already made. I feel like then I know I won't be making any mistakes and screw up her nutrition!

I am definitely not going to change the amount yet

I will give it a month to see how she is looking. I am planning to start with my own meats also, but until her face is cleared I want to stick to just one kind of food. I am giving her the lamb formula. I figured I would give it that one month and hopefully her face will be clear! She is definitely NOT scratching it anymore. Yay!

here is a picture of her white side, you can see the discoloration. She has a pretty deep wrinkle, under her nose rope and on the outside of it is hidden in the pic but much darker.

you will get alot less poop on raw.....

you should see almost a 50% differnece in her poop (as in not pooping so much).....she is not digesting all that heavy grain,,,,and thats where you get all the pooping from..if the bone to meat ratio is right her poop will turn white and dry away...i hardly clean my yard.....before changing the amts your feeding...wait a couple of weeks...primal is 70% moisture so hold on till you see a difference of being to thin or fat but wait a bit....
you can also help to cut cost by buying .your own meats and cutting the primal in half....
glad your having fun with the diet.....
you should give us some before and middle and after pictures.....
