My dog as been having skin issues for the past 4 months and his skin is getting better. He is due for a rabies vaccine in July, but is it okay if he gets this in april for the 3yrs vaccine. I know there is a 7ys vaccine, but is there a 5yrs? or should I wait for the time he is due in July?
thanks.
Dee
Because of a medical condition, my sister is able to get her
dog exempt from all vaccines. Talk to your vet. You may be able to do this.
Yep, all the same, the only difference is how often the area
you live in requires it. You may be interested in the Rabies Challenge Fund. You can google it. It's run by Dr. Jean Dodds. She is trying to prove the rabies vaccine lasts at leat 7 yrs so we can stop over-vaccinating our dogs.
yes they have a 5yr
check and see what one he had last time, you might get a blood titer drawn and see if he needs the vaccine

Most vaccines last the life of the dog...
Which is longer than 5 or 7 years.

i agree. I read that it lasts for 5 and sometimes even 7
I hate it when he gets the rabies shot, because he gets a fever and then a skin allergic reactions that lasts for a few weeks.
It's really all the same shot
It just depends on how frequently the law demands it. The shot has been proven to last for 5 years, it would be SO NICE of they'd not make us give it to our dogs every 3!

when she first came home
we have to get the rabies since it is required by the city
i will ask to see if there is a 5 yrs. I know there is a 7yrs but we can only get that after the 3yrs rabies is done.
in mass its only...
3 years...i wish so much it was five...but we go every three years ,,, sadly...
