Puppy has a rash I think ?
Submitted by whitebully on April 20, 2010 - 10:02pmHello all my male bulldog is 5 months old. And in the past week I have seen a few spots on his body. One is on his belly and two on his legs. Now its not red like a rash but theres little or no fur where the spot is and its kinda bumpy. I have heard that bulldogs have problems with there skin. If so is this common with bulldogs and there skin. And should I be using any cream to help it at all ?

We use GOld Bond medicated powder for rashes...
just dust it on. If it doesn't go away in a few days, you might want to have your vet do a scraping to see what it is.

you can try the desitin
diaper rash. wash the area clean, pat dry and apply the desitin diaper rash on it 2x a day, morning and at night and see if it helps. if it's just a rash it should clear up in about 3 days.

Demodectic mange is a possibility...
easily treated and it is not contagious. 3 months of oral Ivermectin. The vet needs to do a DEEP scraping and can tell you right then and there.
All dogs have it but it becomes dominant when the dog is stressed, for whatever reason...

If it does not clear up, maybe it is mange. My girl has it and it looks sort of like that. The vet would have to do a scraping to confirm.
