Buttercup is still at the vet on IV. I applied ProMeris on Thurs. and she started vomiting everything on Fri. morning. She didn't eat all weekend but kept drinking and vomiting. She was kept at the hospital on Tues (they were closed mon) and visited her today. She's like a zombie. She is unaware of her surroundings and weak in the rear.
I've heard from several people with the same first hand experience. Please BE CAREFUL.
We can only hope she can come home tomorrow.
Pam
So glad to hear that your vet was "on his toes"...
and was alert to her second problem! Sending hugs for quick healing and a return to home soon.
Sending best wishes to your bully.
Thanks for sharing this info re ProMeris!
Buttercup on the mend
Thank you so much for your best wishes and good thoughts. Buttercup is feeling better. I did some research online and found an article about Yohimbe that seems to counteract the sedative like state. We tried it. She happened to have a blockage as well. We were about to bring her home on Fri and she started to vomit again. So Dr. B did a barium and xray series and discovered it. He performed surgery last night and called to say he found part of a rope toy. He said we were dealing with 2 seperate issues that happened to present one after the other...all I can say is Thank God she was there!!
We should get her home sometime next week. She needs to show them she can eat and poop...
Thanks again for all our you support!!
Bulldog people are the best kind of people!!!
my 10 months has been on interceptor for mites
I chose this over the ivermectin since the vet said some dogs do have severe reaction to it so i did not want to take any risk and he's been on it for a month and a half and so far no problems. Hope your baby gets better.

How is Buttercup? I have used Promeris for over a year and have been lucky with it. I use it monthly for flea tick prevention..and hope it keeps demoxdex away. I have to tell you I don't ever give the full amount for any of my bulldogs I usually give way under the amount. So far though it has worked for me, but I am still scared every time I use it. I put a couple of drops on their shoulder blades and I watch them like HAWKS for several days. I have had a friend who's bulldog had a reaction to the Promeris and I have had another friend who's bulldog like yours at the vet's office for over a week on IV's from Frontline Plus. They are all posions so I try and be very careful as to how much I use on them. Hoping all the best to Buttercup!
Linda
hope she is better soon
My boy had a reaction to ivermectin when we were using it to treat his demodex. Loss of appetite and walking like he was drunk. Stopped it asap. Then found out from another vet that he would likely "outgrow" the localized demodex...and he did.
People and vets need to remember these drugs kill bugs and are toxic!
Oh, that's good to know - we use Frontline Plus
one year it was so dry and fleas were horrible so we rotated Frontline Plus with Advantix and Advantage...but since then it's been ok
Re: What is this product used to treat? I've never heard of it b
ProMeris is used as a flea treatment and for mites. It's topical like Frontline. I have heard many 1st hand accounts of dogs having severe reactions to this product since I started researching.
What is this product used to treat? I've never heard of it befor
just want to know and thanks for the heads up
Re: ProMeris Reaction
Promeris also got a puppy that we bred VERY sick after one treatment, His new owners rushed him to the ER Vet on a Saturday. On the other hand I have a friend who uses it to treat Demodex with no side effects. I prefer to not use it myself, even though I am aware each dog's system is different.
Apparently the people that responded to this thread below had bad luck with it too.

ProMeris
My Daisy had a similar reaction, but not until the 3rd treatment! My vet
said that he had not seen a reaction to the drug before that. My little girl was lethargic, super sleepy, vomiting, and finally, barely conscious. I rubbed off as much of the medicine as I could and took her to the vet the next morning... she was fine by then, but MAN, what a scare!
We need to tell others to be very careful of this medicine. It is obviously not
for every dog.
Hope your baby is ok...... Let us know, ok?
Sending prayers for your girl...
hope she recovers quickly.
