I believe my 12 month old male has the beginning of a prolapsed urethra. I just noticed it this am and have not found any signs of bleeding. Any info on the treatment of this condition would be appreciated. Robin

IMHO I wouldn't use sugar I did and he bled even more! Roll the skin back a few times a day, I did and it works. Still there at times but it never bleeds anymore
if it's not bleeding then wait and watch. Do lots of research and talk to others. Educate yourself and make an informed decision on what to do with a vet who is very experienced with prolapses.

The tip is red and looks like a tiny donut. I had heard that sugar could be put on it to stop bleeding. But, I didn't do this because he wasn't bleeding. Thanks so much for this advice! Will definitely try it.

and expose the tip of the penis, does it have a bubble on the tip. It should look like the nose of an elephant no bubbles.
If so, put the tips of 4 finger on the shaft of the penis and lightly pull your fingers over the tip of the penis, the skin should roll back, the put some regualar table sugar on the penis to increase blood flow. Do this every time you see the bubble.
If its not bleeding you can turn things around doing the above where you may never need surgery.
Sugar....

Agree
No blood no difficulty peeing no surgery

I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.
