probiotic and cottage cheese

Before I switch dog foods I'm going to give the geneflora probiotic a shot for a few weeks to see if it helps with Tuffy's soft stool problems on C. Natural. However I heard from someone on another forum that cottage cheese works great for soft stools (yogurt didnt' help my dog.) Has anyone had any success with cottage cheese to help with soft stool? My only qualm about trying that is that I don't want to add too much into his digestive system since I'm starting him on the probiotic. Should I hold off on the cottage cheese until I've been on the probiotic for a while? (I also give fish oil during the midday meal...)

Thanks!

cottage cheese....

is a dairy product and would more than likely give soft stools....remember it takes 30 to 60 days for anything to really start working....
i would go for fiber...try a little metamucil for fiber to firm the stool...a probitic may or may not help...also a little bran if not allergic to grains...

Thanks for the fiber suggestion!

Apparently C. Natural is lower in fiber so that may be part of the problem. Before I try anything new, my husband wants me to just give him straight dog food for a week (with nothing mixed in--no fish oil, no probiotic, no harboiled egg, etc.) ) to see if it is truly the food that's the issue I think that maybe I should have started slower on the fish oil because his stool is runnier than usual since I started giving it 3 days ago. I really hope it's not the salmon fish oil, though, because his fur is so much softer since I started him on it!
