I hope the new food will help her. It should pretty quickly if the head tremors are food related. You may also want to have a full exam by a Bulldog vet and rule out anything going on otherwise.

and she has been on TOTW for almost a year. I just started feeding her NB 2 days ago, so it's possibly to soon to tell if it will make a difference. She has had 3 tremors so far tonight, each time I give her alittle Kayro and she stops. I noticed that if the room gets warm she tends to have them more often. I'm freezing in here trying to keep it cool for her. Please let me know if you have any luck finding out anything. I have woke up several times in the night hearing her teeth chattering from the tremors and I know it's freaking her out. She's an old girl and I hate for her to go thru this.

Sophia had head tremors almost immediately after putting her on it. Isabella did great on it though. As soon as I took Sophie off it she was fine.
So some dogs are just able to tolerate higher protein, less carbs than others. I think I might do a little broader research and see what I come up with:-)

as much as how much water they get overall for their kidney's to work properly. The protein in kibble has had ALL the water cooked out of it. Think about all the dogs who eat 100% meat raw diets. No fruit/veggie carb sources, no nothing but animal sources. BUT the moisture content is very high, around 70% and it is in a very easily digested form. The protein in kibble is much harder for a dog to digest, so the liver and kidney's have to work much harder to do it.
Here is a good article that explains it well. Even for grain free food, which would make you think it would be better protein, still has low moisture and hard to digest protein. So some dogs that don't drink enough water you may have to make SURE you add some to their kibble.

Since Boo was about 7, and doesn't get much exercise due to her bad rear legs, her kidneys probably couldn't process the high protein. But, IMO, even dogs who don't immediately develop tremors, should not be put on such high protein food. If such food cannot immediately cause head shakes in some dogs, it probably starts damaging the kidneys of other dogs, who just take longer to react.

Boo was about 7 when I first tried TOTW Prairie formula. She almost immediately developed head shakes, for the first time in her life. And they were really bad ones. Same thing when I tried the Pacific Stream formula instead.
Boo also started urinating in her bed during the night, again for the first time ever. Boo came to me already extremely well paper trained, as she is to this day. She would always go pee on the paper if I was not home when she had to go. She had never peed on the floor, not even as a puppy. But as soon as I put her on TOTW, she started peeing in her bed overnight. And as soon as I took her off TOTW, both the head shakes and the peeing in the bed immediately stopped.
I spoke to two vets about this. Both said such high protein foods put a big strain on a dog's kidneys. They recommended that I stick to dry foods that have less than 30 percent protein.
BTW, when I tried Innova Evo, which is also a grain free food, Boo also had head shakes, tho no peeing in the bed. Then about three months later, I tried the TOTW and the head shakes came back.

100% sure it was the food and not something else. Even though since I switched he never has had another one. But still not sure it wasn't a coincidence.

stopped not because of the head shakes but the poo that squirted out like mustard! Sorry for the gross visual but there was going to be no way in heck that I was going to be cleaning my fence everytime my boys went poo!
I will be praying for your girl.

No issues
Still feeding the salmon
I don't think kidney strength is the issue

May have to do with how strong their kidneys are

Toby had head tremors on Wellness, but now eats TOTW with no tre
Interesting how differently dogs respond to the food!
I would not hesitate to take a dog off a food if they were having head tremors. Those are so scary.

No,even fed it to a pregnant mother her entire pregnancy and she had 10 healthy pups. Lottie
I already responded that Farley did, but I just can't be
100% sure it was the food and not something else. Even though since I switched he never has had another one. But still not sure it wasn't a coincidence.
LOL!!! Well that was worth the good laugh!
Hey Lady, been missing you. How's life? Wanna come live in Texas with us?!! It is pretty decent living:-)
Anyway, I hope you are doing ok. I miss seeing you on the board. I posted to you a week or so back trying to roust you out!

Fed it for only 1 week...
stopped not because of the head shakes but the poo that squirted out like mustard! Sorry for the gross visual but there was going to be no way in heck that I was going to be cleaning my fence everytime my boys went poo!

Junior was on it. No shakes.
Roxy had head shakes twice, but I don't remember what I was feeding her at the time. I did change her food and she has never had another one.
I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.

Farley did.
Have fed TOTW
no tremors
BUT I only fed it for 2 weeks because it made her throw up.
