The vet seemed unconcerned and called it a "summer rash". Well, Penny's coming up on 10 years old, and has never had this before. Needless to say, she is an old girl, and this rash distresses her very much.
The rash started as a quarter-sized spot, which has sort of migrated around, spreading and healing behind itself; now it has settled where you see it, and has spread into her folds.
The vet gave us benadryl for it, and an ointment (but not ivermectin or any of the other anti-mange ointments).
So, the problem comes now that we HAVE TO take my daughter away to college later this week (Thursday) and we need to board her. Do you think there will be any issues?
Looks like hot spots to me also and I would try using Gold Bond
medicated powder on them instead of a salve, using a Q tip to apply so as not to get it in her eye.

So really
all the vet said was it's a summer rash? Gosh I'd want a better answer than that. Sorry Penny is itchy! I don't have any advice just hope she feels better. =(
Hug your bulldog every day.

also to add...
The ointment seems to help heal the rash where it is, but doesn't keep it from spreading, or reappearing.
We have her on the food that she's eaten her entire life; Nutro lamb and rice formula. We'd switched for a couple bags because we'd run out over a weekend, but she's back on Nutro for a couple-three weeks now.

Are you boarding her at the vets office?
Will anyone be cleaning and medicating her wounds?
I'd like to see them cleaned with a diluted chlorhexidine solution, gently, a couple times a day...in addition to giving her something oral. And if they aren't improving I would give an oral antibiotic for a week to see if that knocks down whatever is causing this. Doubt if its mange...looks like roving "hot spots" which are bacterial.
