my bulldog brutus had cherry eye when he was 9 months old and I had them removed and he is 7 today and has developed dry eye and I give him drops everyday. I recently got a mastiff puppy and she is 4 1/2 months old and has developed cherry eye. we have already seen the vet and I am giving her drops right now for a week to see if it clears ups, but I have seen this before and we will probably have to do surgery.
my question is that people in the mastiff community say that bulldogger's prefer to do the massage treatment instead of surgery...what is your opinion???? and experience? thank you!
your so lucky....
its great your vet will stand behind his surgies....my friend had to pay 3 times for a cherry eye and then she just cut it out....
bless your vet....
Hi and Happy New Year I have 8 dogs, five blies, and 3 chinese s
I have alot of experience with this cherry eye stuff. If the glad pops out and is small, sometimes you can message it back in. It depends on the age of the dog sometimes, as one of my pup got it after playing outside, a piece of dirt irritated her eye and because the muscle that holds it in place wasn't strong enough it popped out, I put it back and it never came out again. On some of the others, however, I had a specialist make a "pocket" and tuck the gland back in and they were fine after that. I don't snip them glad off because it causes dry eye later in life. The surgery works fine and my specialist will re do the surgery for free if it comes out again. Just my opinion.
OMG!
yes, I have seen this video..but it kills me!! by doing this the cherry eye never goes away right??? aren't ya just tucking it back inside and then what about all the infections that the eye gets from irritation????
poor bulldog, nice tear stains

Your choice
Our bitch had cherry eye at 5 months and we got the cream and massaged it. this went on for about a month and it never went back so we had it removed. She got it in the other eye a few months later so we just got it removed straight away. It entierly your choice though. Our Male gets it from time to time and its white in colour and disapears after 10-30 minutes so we never bothered having it removed. With the bitch it stayed our constantly. Ive known of people to have theirs tacked in and have had to go through the expense anyway of having it removed. Its what you think is best for your bullie. There is no right or wrong answer here, just whats best for your bullie. Good luck
depends......
on wilson i was able to assage the inflamed sack back in and it as stayed in....
with charlie becasue he had hair under is upper lids and entropian it kept irrating te eye and i had to have it snipped out....
so i found it to be an invidual depending on any other problems,,,,,
Massage it.
Had the tucks done and then removal and now I wish I just got over the "look of it" and just took the time and massaged it in. I also stopped using collars on our bullies and walk them in body harnesses. I noticed with the collar sometimes when they pull to hard the cherry eye would pop out.

I agree
if it is tiny it can be massaged in, Lily gets a tiny one every now and again and that is what I do, also you should never have it removed, you should get it tacked, less problems up the road. good luck
If it's small
I would try to massage it back in.
