Natural Rearing

Hi Im new to the forum. I am looking to purchase a bullbaby from a natural rearing breeder. She feeds raw meat and nothing else and she also doesnt get the yearly vaccinations due to fear of over vaccinating. She give herbs and vitamins etc etc. No chemicals in anything that includes Flea and Tick meds. All of this sounds like great ideas and Im all for the raw meat diet but im a little worried about the no vaccinations. Ive done it all my life, I was wondering if anyone on here had any experience with this particular topic and could give me a little advice/peace of mind that its okay. THhanks so much in advance.

She sounds great to me .....

I also feed RAW ( Natures Variety premade frozen medallions ) . As far as vaccinations .... I agree that too many vaccinations are causing illnesses and compromised immune systems . But I also know the threat of Parvo and the other diseases are far too real . Therefore I always do the puppy series, then the 1 yr booster . After that its your choice..... you can either have your vet do titers to see what level of immunity is in your dog . Some titers have shown immunity for 7 years or longer and some people believe they have lifelong immunity after the puppy series . I choose to vaccinate every 3 years , even though my vet doesnt agree with me. Its what I feel comfortable with and I am not going to over vaccinate my dogs just so she can cover her you know what wink.gif

Vaccination protocols...

...have changed a lot in recent years, but not all vets are keeping up (vaccines = $). I no longer allow my dogs to get the yearly vaccines either after the series of puppy shots. Rabies is required by law, but after the 1st booster, we can get 3-year rabies vaccines, and that's all we do anymore.

Here's some good information, and you can do searches for Dr. Schultz and Dr. Dodds for more information.

The breeder you refer to is well-known and ethical.

Good luck!

WOW I am suprised at this response

I don't think I would be sceptical of a breeder because she doesn't vaccinate even though I don't agree but each to their own and you can have the puppy vaccinated yourself. Just make sure you get something in writing to say you can return the puppy if it fails its first vet check and is shown to be unhealthy.

Raw food is great, all of my dogs are raw fed but I do start my puppies off on a starter biscuit before putting them onto raw at 8 weeks.

I know the breeder...

She's a wonderful, caring person. I wouldn't think twice about buying a puppy from her.

you need to check to see if they are also getting routine

health care. ARe the free whelpers because they dont want to spend the money. When was the last time they saw the vet for routine health examinations, blood work to make sure they are ok. I understand about the vaccines, however that is after the first years boosters.

you can email David and ask if they are on his dont buy list or non preferred breeders. webmaster@bulldogsworld.com

I would be very sceptical of this breeder.

Hello Tina

I am glad you found this site. Does the breeder claim that her dogs are healthier than dogs from
other breeders because they can free whelp?

I'm sure many bulldogs could have their babies naturally but, it is for their protection that c-sections are performed.
