My baby has an ear infection

I have an appointment on Friday, but I still have a little bit of ointment left from a previous bout with an ear infection. It is Otomax, but it is 2 months over the expiration date. Would you still give him the drops? I hate to see my baby uncomfortable, but I don't want to make the ear worse by "self" medicating. So, should we give him the drops or wait till the vet can check him over? We caught it early so it isn't a bad infection...just red and irritated looking. I don't even think The Boy has even noticed it yet. happy.gif

I agree, okay to give except not the morning of his appt.

The vet wants to see into the ear (otoscope) and if its filled with fresh medication it will be more difficult to see in, even wiping the ear with a swab which is what he may do beforehand. happy.gif

it is still ok

I had recently asked my vet about that and he said it is ok to give , hope it helps him, poor baby
