Male vs. Female?

Ok, went to look at puppies today. We have it narrowed down to our favorite male and female. What are the pros and cons of haveing male or female.

Are males more aggressive vs. females. Are females easier to train? Any info greatly appreciated..

I love them all...

We've had 3 bullies... 2 male and 1 female

The males are sweet, little lovers. Very affectionate and I have found them to be more dependent.

My Millie loves nothing more than to be touched. She could care less where...just don't stop! She's been the craziest of the bunch! Millie is one tough bulldog.

In my experience, I have found bullies male and female to be one of the sweetest breeds out there. You won't go wrong with either sex.

Re: Males

I love mine too. I tell people he's like my little boy and they look at me like I'm nuts, but all of those little expressions on his face I just want to squeeze him. Lovable huggable bullies. Can't help but love 'em.

Elton, congrats on your new puppy!

yes, please post pix on Forum I.

Re: got the little girl tonight:

Congratulations! You'll love her!

we like the girls

Several friends and family have boys and one has a girl. I have spent a great deal of time with all of them and found that I like the tempermant of the girl. I also like her size. Mind you we have three small children nder the age of 6. After thinking long and hard about the boy or girl question we have picked a girl. We hope to have her in early March.

I prefer boys

The peeing can be easily directed where you want it. Males are much more calm and sweet and easier with other dogs.

I knew some Bulldoggirls, which were like tigers!

Over Christmas we watched Lucky getting to know his little niece Siu Wing. Siu Wing is 15 months old now and walking around. So now she notices Lucky. Each time she was about to start to cry (strange noises, scary looking face) he turned his back on her and just went to somebody else. And so carefull!

Knowing that most of the time Lucky has the elegance of a rhinoceros (I've got blue patches on all kind of strange places), I was sooooo impressed!

I like girls...

just mainly because of the peeing thing. The boys like to go around marking everything---trees, tires, corner of the house, etc. Girls just squat once and they're done! In my life I've had 3 Bulldogs, 2 girls & 1 boy. All 3 were wonderful and loving but I prefer the little girlies and their dainty ways.

Re: Male vs. Female?

Males are bigger, fuller more wrinkled face, bigger head; more bullyish!
My male is laid back, but yet very active at times, plays, chews. My female is the more aggressive, but that's not to say that all females are this way and males are laid back. It just depends on their personality. You can't always judge the pup you pick by how laid back or jolly they are either.

me and you

and our sweet dumb (shows how smart they really are, they make you think they are dumb) males but you did forget to mention we prefer sweet, dumb brindle males

Males

My experience having had both (still have my male) is my male is much more docile, friendly, laid back and was a breeze to train. A total marshmallow and love bug and very well behaved. My bitch was only a pup but was agressive to my male, dominant, hard to train and very stubborn. They always try to be the alpha. But Libby was also sweet as sugar when she felt like it, especially to her daddy.

Keep in mind every pup is different and has a different personality and that is what is really more important if you really can't decide. Is the pup's personality what you are looking for. The breeder can help you make a decision based on what you want as she has watched these babies grow and knows them so well.

I love my big lug and will probably only have males from here on out.

thanks for the info:

Thank you so much for the info.

Depends on your preference and the bloodlines and socialization.

Just what you wanted a non answer answer! LOL Sorry, but it is a matter of opinion. Girls only usually pee one time when youtake them out... a lot of people like that fact and prefer girls just b/c of that alone. I like big ole dumb males who always seem to be undyingly devoted to me. There may be something to this opposite sex thing...my males have always been my adoring devotees and my girls have always been sweet and devoted and obedient but I always had the feeling they had one eye out for themselves and watching to see if anything better came along...though my heart and my soul mate was a female Sheltie who I miss terribly to this day...she could talk to me and she knew me and my moods by just looking at me...and at the same time she could be a brat...she was incredibly smart... My bully girls are sweet and lovable no doubt about that. My males however don't have an aggressive streak in their bodies but part of that is that it is my lines, the fact that I raised them from birth and I socialize and set limits and boundaries on all of my dogs acceptable behavior early in life.
The only time my boys will get testy is if one of the girls is going into high heat...and usually by then I have shipped the males over to my daughter's house b/c she has one of my males and a male Bassett and they all get along wonderfully. My males are passively protective of me and my friends by body blocking if they see someone suspicious approaching either of us and they let out a bark or just a deep throaty warning growl but will stop and just stand their ground btwn the person and myself/friend. They are rather intimidating looking and certainly surprised me when they did that but it gives me peace of mind.
well...to make it short...I prefer sweet dumb males and if I was to have only one pet it would be a neutered male that I raised from birth or at least had met the parents and knew the line had stable temperaments. I am enough of an Alpha Bitch for my home I think!LOL
