I know sometimes it can be frustrating to have to pay the office visit and the health check fee a vet charges when you "know" exactly what you need. I definately do not encourage anyone to self-medicate and it is always possible that a vet will discover an issue that you had no idea existed. I do not know what your vet charged for the 2 meds you mentioned but both are very common meds. The triple abx you received for eyes (BNP) costs me 10.99 per tube or $9 if I have a script. Animax costs $13.39 for 15ml or $8.90 if I have a script--it also comes in larger sizes. I keep some on hand. Otomax for 7.5 Grams cost $13.19 or $11 with a script and also comes in larger sizes. Of course you have to pay for shipping but I usually get together with someone else to make up an order and share the cost of shipping. Health care is expensive and if I can save a little money somewhere by purchasing my own meds. This on-line site sells to breeders, handlers, kennel owners-not "just pet owners". I guess they feel "just pet owners" are not as knowldgeable about their needs.
