Re: jackson's tail is infected again

What I do if a tight tail get infected is squirt Listerine to rinse it, then dry it out with a very soft thin cloth and then use the gold bond. I have found using a bird feeder we use for breeding works well for the Listerine, it is metal with a ball on the end. For the powder I recently used a disposable enema bottle emptied and run through the dishwasher works great for getting the powder into the pocket. The tip is very soft and flexible. The most important thing to do once you know a dog has a problem tail is to NEVER get it wet. Just clean it out with a paper towel or a piece very thin soft material wrapped around your finger. If it stays dry it will not get infected.

Tammy won't the gold bonds burn terribly? He is reallyred, it do

it seems to me that when he goes potty, if I don't get it cleaned really well, which is hard because he hates this and thries to bite me,he really hurts when he does that normally I can just take a baby wipe and clean as soon as he comes in but if i am not home, you know how that goes..........  Thanks by the way.

Balmex is a diaper rash cream. Jackson is on a grain free diet

but when the weather got hot here again, he must sweat and get infected when he goes potty.  I wipe him always, but he holds that tail so darn tight that I cant always get up as far as i need to and then it starts.  He will also get an infection when he has anything other than his food, ie bread with his meds or to when my daughter gave it to him because he threw up.  I was hoping that they would fix it when he had his acl surgery, but the vet odidn't want to chance an infection in his leg.

either use the gold bond powder or the desitin

when mine is red, i use the desitin cream original there is no scent then on the 2nd or 3rd day, it should not be as red, wipe it softly and add the gold bond powder. Usually after bath, i use the gold bond powder and every other night for maintenance. I use the desitin when it gets red and it should not be red a 2-3 days, then you just wipe it clean and apply the gold bond powder with a qtip, apply alot.

Chester's tail is infected also...

I've been using animax but it's still gooey and smelly. What is Balmex and where do you get it? We tried to switch his food and as a result, his tail is really icky.
