IF you hit the quik in a dogs nail...best solutions for the bleeding....

I normally never hit a quik but the other day I hit Bella. I tried and tried to get the bleeding to stop. tried the constarch no luck, tried flour. I found on a website to just rub a bar of soap on the nail and it would stop. had to do a few times but it worked thank goodness

I was wandering about Quik Stop. have you used it?
wandering is there is a better product out there then Quik Stop as well.

the vet uses some kind of liquid to stop it too..but it is not for sale at the office

in a pinch..the soap worked but rather have something on hand if this happens again

thanks for your help

there was no quik stop when I was out today..the bar of soap did

might need to just do that for now until I can find some quik stop
I had no luck with the constarch..do you make a paste or use it dry??

hope I never cut a quik again...although likely everyone has done is one time or another i bet.

you can take a bar of soap and dig in to the nail

to stop the bleeding, i use quick stop, corn starch, flour. I also have an electrocautery that burns the nail

yea I aksed about that product..

and the vet said it was not for sale
I will ask but Quik stop might be what I need here
just in case
like I said never happened to me before..
never ever hit a quik

thanks for the tip
did not realize that you had to hold it on the toe for a couple of minutes..
will remember that
thanks again

Quik-stop or similar products need to be PRESSES INTO

the cut surface, not jus applied, so you basically need to take a good pinch of it and press and hold it against the cut toenail for at least 1-2mins and it should work...has worked for me. The meds the vet and groomers often use is like a matchstick and it works much quicker but I don't think its available for general usage.
