for the past 5 nights when its time for us to go to bed lana takes her thing that she sucks on and goes to town on it for about 30 mins. she only does this when we get into bed. we tell her NO she doesn't listen (just like a kid lol ) she doesn't hump anyone else just her toy. I have to say this is the most exercise she gets all day lol should i stop her somehow or just let her do her thing?

MY son has a blind pug rescue that humps a teddy bear....
each night and he is going on 9 years old and still does it. I would have taken the bear away..but my son feels Otis does not get an real excersise besides..lol and lets him have it.
on the other side..Bella my female bulldog started to hump my foot in bed when she was a puppy. I learned no and off really fast. she still hump the pugs here but never me at all..which is a good thing. the pugs will growl and she backs off..
it is a dominance thing I think but not sure..
goodluck
if you take away the bear..tried this with my sons pug the one time..and he cried and cried and cried.
now he happens to sleep in another room then my sons..he is fine..does not need his humping bear..so I truly do no understand him
You can do two different things
You can start by teaching the 'off' command in order to get her to move away from the animal. You need to get her to understand the command first by maybe teaching her to get off from the couch or to get off of you or guests if she happens to jump up on them.
The other thing you can do is just remove the animal. She may move to humping other objects, and if she does, then teach her the off command. You can also give her a time out of about 30-60 seconds each time she starts to hump. Pretty soon she'll get the idea.
I personally would put an end to this behavior pretty soon. The longer she does this, the harder the behavior will be to get rid of.
Re: I have a humping question.
My pup does it all the time with his toy. The kids think it's hysterical! I wouldn't worry about it....
Tuffy's Mama
well.................
the bulldog will not outgrow it..lol guaranteed.
this pug is going strong and that is 9 years later..
we have different views on it here
my son is fine with him..he can hump all he wants.
he stays with my son at night
if the rescue pug is up with me at night in my room
no teddy bear...and he is fine
just cuddles and goes to sleep
so my guess is seeing it is what triggers things..
if you take away the bear..your bulldog will eventually forget about it likely.
up to you
some people it bothers..some do not care..
depends on how annoyed you get
and personally I guess it not that much different from playing with any toy..really..
they play with toys for hours on end.and we do not take away all their toys..
maybe move the bear to the livingroom..lol and let him play with it before he goes to bed..
i seriously do not think it really matters that much..
How much does it bother you
if it doesn't then let her have her fun. She's not hurting anyone and if she gets exercise too that's great! LOL
