I feed my bully girl Natural Balance twice a day. Her breakfast is typically a cup & half with a some turkey and yogurt. Dinner is 1 cup without turkey. she poops at least 3-4 times a day. she is a poopin machine. I would have expected less with a high protein/no grain food. any thoughts?
thanks everyone
thanks for all the advice. has anyone had better results with other foods geared toward mange recovery? her back is starting to grow hair back, but she has such scar tissue from being so sick, that i don't want to make a step backwards. her vet that she has i haven't met but the bulldog rescue group is happy with her. her mange was limited to her paws, back and top of her head with a little on the side of her neck. she romps around the back yard, is happy and just seems to poop alot.

That's
good perfect form is great.
Is she on meds? That could be why. We had demodex, used the yogurt but also put him on a chinese herbal supplement to help boost the immune system. (Fu-Zheng is what it's called) Humans also take it who have immune compromise. Our vet recommended it. Just thought I'd mention in case you wanted to research it.

Re: That does
i would have expected 1-2 times a days well. however, it is in perfect form, for lack of a better term. she is a rescue and has eaten this same food since living with her foster mom. she has demodex mange so no grains. her vet wants her to be grain free to keep the yeast down. she does recommend the yogurt to keep her internal bacteria balanced. i am just amazed that amount of food produces that amount of waste. tdf

That does
seem like a lot in one day. Onslow poops 1-2 times and thats it. Maybe something in her food isn't agreeing with her............

NO grain means NO fiber...
if you're going to go the no-grain route you should consider adding some vegetables that have some fiber, such as 1/2 cup green beans w/out salt, or 12 baked yam or sweet potato, or 1/2 cup cooked sliced carrots (not baby food because that has been pureed too fine to be useful for fiber considerations, IMO.)

In Canada...
...we all poop 5 times a day.
NOOOO, just kidding!
I was going to Say, in Canada Medi-Cal is considered a very good food. I was reading some of their literature, and they said rule of thumb for a healthy dog on a good diet would be a poop per meal with puppies/young dogs up to twice that amount.
So I'm not sure how old your dog is, but the l'il pooper might be ight on the money.
Cheers!

My experience has been that
Natural Balance = More poop! Since we have no allergy or skin problems here, a switch to Nutro solved the problem.
