Just noticed that Gladys has a quarter size hot spot on her neck. I noticed that her sister had been licking her for a bit and went to see why she was so busy grooming her sister. Imagine my surprise ! She has never had a hot spot before !! Seems like since having puppies she's had a few skin issues (foliculitous sp ?)
What is better to use - the gentocin spray or the gold bond/listerine. Also what kind of gold bond do you use & listerine (yellow) ???
Need to get cleared up as Nationals are just a month away !!
Appreciate any imput. Thanks.

hot spot
We use the Tea tree oil hot spot spray by NuVET
Then - we apply some gold bond powder to the area at night.
We also take 1 wafer supplement per day.

Thanks Elaine :-)
Sprayed it with Gentocin last night and already looking better this morning. That's the biggest problem is trying to keep her sissy, whose a natural born cleaner, from licking Glady's spot. Have a great Monday !

Clean it first, and pat it dry (let air-dry for few mins) before
applying medication and either one of those will cause some "sting", either the Gentocin Spray or the Listerine/powder treatment. It might be that the Gentocin will be 'less attractive' to the other dog, therefore less likelihood of the spot being licked clean. And with hot spots, remember to treat about 1/2inch beyond the edges you see.
