Hello...my husband and I believe that Tuffy has cherry eye (which I've read is common in bulldogs.) It's not awful yet but from the pictures I've seen on the internet that's what I think it is. Since he came home he's scratched a bit at his left eye but today it's very red and we see what we think is that prolapsed gland. If anyone has experienced this can you give me some advice prior to going to the vet tomorrow? I've read that surgery is the best option but if it's only in one eye sometimes it's better to treat with ointments for 2-4 and see if it happens to the other eye before doing surgery.
Thanks

Re: If it's small
Thanks for the advice and glad to hear it worked out for your pup! This forum had the link for the youtube video about how to massage the cherry eye back in. My husband tried it and it looks a bit better but still red. Hopefully the vet will not advocate surgery right now...

You may be able to massage it back in. I would try the massage before I consider surgery. Morgan popped a cherry eye shortly after I brought her home. I was able to massage it back in but it popped out again a few days later. Once again I massaged it in and it never popped out again. That was about 5 years ago.
