Help, please...cross post

Atlas had diarrhea this morning and pooped all over during the night. We cleaned it up this morning and took him out and he had the same outside. He ate normally, so we did not think much of it.

Well, I just got home from work and there was runny poop EVERYWHERE in his area (laundry room). I took him right outside and he squatted to poop several times. I cleaned up the poop which had things in it (mulch, small pebbles) which I am guessing he ate at camp yesterday.

I fed him, which he ate normally, though not as fast. I went and changed clothes and he did not come up with me (strange). When I came back down a few minutes later, he had pooped again and this time it seemed somewhat bloody.

I am really worried now. Should I take him to the ER vet? Does he have some kind of blockage? Does this sound normal to anyone? Please help.

charlie...

has had bloody stools on and off....he is a sb dog so he gets irratated once in a great while...if its bright red i would not feed for 24 hrs and a lite bland meal hamburger and rice....if it is black and tarry looking i would bring him to the vets....
if he is acting normale and not vomiting water i would wait...if he starts vomiting water i would go right away....
this is one of those things were you know your dog better than we do here....also press on his gums do they refill in less than three seconds? if they dont that could indicate a internal bleed....
but since he threw up some pebbles and things i would feel its an irritation of the bowels...
let us know....

Sometimes they have blood with diarhea because...

the colon is irritated from all the activity. Our boy had hemmoragic gastroenteritis last year which is a little more serious. He would actually have blood dripping out after he would have the diarhea. So if it continues, I would take him in tomorrow. You could probably give him an immodium tonight to help stop the running.

Don't take any chances

Go to the vet. Bloody diarrhea is a bad sign, and you should not wait any longer. Go to the ER vet now to get a proper diagnosis. Giardia, coccidia, parvo, swallowing a foreign object are just a few things that can cause this symptom, not to mention that dogs can become severely dehydrated.
