My bulldog was in heat at around 7 months, she is one year and has not been spayed. What are the consequences of not spaying (outside of the obvious) and how often are they in heat?

what are the advantage of have her intact? Unless you plan to breed her, have her spayed. The cons ut weight the pros when it come sto intact females..
heat cycles- bloody mess, must be kept isolated away from other dogs when in season (remember dogs can smell a bitch in heat miles away and can jump 6 foot fences to get to one!), risk or mammory tumors which can lead to several types of cancers including lymphoma, lung cancer and skin cancer, and then we have pyo which is a horrible infection they can get when in heat.

percentage of developing mammary cancer if not spayed before the first heat. most girls are usually about every 6 months. some are once a year. i had one that came in every 4 months..... it would be less stressful on you if you had her spayed.

There is also a chance of piometra...
if she's not spayed. That's an infection in the ovaries. It can be life threatening if not take care of immediately.

It would also be less hard on the dog if you had it done
while she was a young adult, rather than waiting until she was 5yrs+.
