hairloss question
Submitted by admin on April 20, 2010 - 7:50pmI have 3 english bulldogs and 1 english bulldog mix. They are all loosing their hair except 1. The mix is the worst, all the hair on her sides is about gone and she also has some scabs where the hair is gone. Could this be seasonal alopecia? I figure the one bully is loosing her hair since she just had puppies 2 weeks ago. But the other bully is also loosing her hair on her sides and has a few scabs. The weather has been crazy here in North Carolina so maybe that could be one reason for the hairloss?

Well the mix does have dark places where her hair is gone which I forgot to mention in the first post. The other 2 do not have dark places where their hair is gone but they are not nearly as bad. They go outside of course to use the bathroom and to play and there is nothing in the yard they could be getting into.

I think the seasonal flank alopecia, from what I've seen, is more of the dog loosing hair and it growing in a darker color. I don't know it to have scabbing associated with is, but my dog has never had this problem. We live in Florida.
I think a trip to the vet might not be a bad idea.
