the reason that I ask is that Gus about 6 months ago..was about 1 and half years old and he really slowed down ..but NOW that he is chest is filling out more and the major growing is done..and filling out..he is about 2 and a bit now...he is just as wild as he was a puppy. full of life
just wander if bullies slow down when they are growing..and filling out like Gus did
Bella was kinda the same way..but when the pugs came along..she was full of life again. she settled down about a year and half too..till she was 2 ..and then the pugs and off she was active again too.
so maybe there is something to this growth spurt thing..lol
my skin kids as teens could sleep and sleep and sleep when they were growing up too. they also ate and ate and ate..lol.
also noticed the bullies were more hungry with the change in body structure too
she is very pretty...looks really comphy
I for sure need to see her standing up...hahhaha
just to see how big she is..
she looks like she is a good size laying there but not 55 pounds..
wow was she a skinny thing..
way skinny...
I sure will
but in the mean time here she is perched on her sofa, her seductive pose.
here she is skinny........
lol...ok..she hides her girlie figure really good.....
she sure do not look at it in the threads
wow can not believe 55 pounds...she sure do not look at it.
need to see a pic of her walking around sometime...usually she is sitting somewhere..
need to take a pic of her standing...ok??
She is a big girl
She weighs 55 pounds, I just have a big sofa that makes her look small. tee hee
I think that I will measure the girth on these bullies here toni
that is a good idea to measure as well.
Bella we knew cause her old harness just did not seem to fit..way to small..
she really expanded about 2 and half to 3 years ...she blossomed...
although she lost weight from excersise outside ..big time like 6 pounds in a year.
Josie sure do not look like a big gal in the pics you post of her..
she hides her weight really well...
what does she weigh??
thanks for that.....both of my bullies....
Gus is 52-54 pounds
Bella is 42 pounds..
Bella's parents were both smaller bullies..
and Gus parents were larger bullies
so makes sense it is in the gene's..
but that does not hold true for my pug here..and nobody knows what happened to her..lol
her parents are 20 plus pound pugs..all stalky. her sibblings are all 20 plus pugs..all stalky and she is small and dainty and tiny..at only 14 pounds at 2 years old. the breeder feels that genetics did it to her too..she picked it up from..........my a great grandparent or something...she is the only tiny one of the bunch... she is healty and frisky. do not want the extra weight on a pug anyhow..lol
Josie has expanded
since she has been spayed. When I got her fleece her girth was 30 inches. She was a skinny chick when I first got her, a mere 28 inches. She is a big girl and can handle a few extra pounds. J & T

I should add that the final "bulk" the bulldog will achieve is directly related to its genetics. You can add some 'fine tuning' by regular walking exercise, keeping toenails trimmed, keeping decent weight...these will firm up baby fat and help the dog move gracefully on balanced distribution.
Settle down..LOL..Bella is going on 4..lol and nothing yet..lol
I know Gus ribs are still expanding here some. he is not quite 3 yet so guess we have some time left...lol to grow
I wandered about the height and Bella and Gus weight did not change awhole since 9 month either..just kinda held there own but a few pounds maybe.
This breed is known to fully mature at about two years old.
Some a little less, many not until closer to 3, but you can get some ideas from their parents if that info is available to you.
Most bulldogs reach their adult height at about 9-10mos old, and they continue to fill out, both in body width and chest depth and in skull too. As for puppy behavior, some 'never grow up' and their owners marvel at that, but again most settle down when they get about 3yrs old...if they will settle down at all...LOL.
she is going to expand BIG TIME...LOL...
keep track..she will really get much broader..
they really do change..
LOTS and LOTS..
you will see a huge change..
Bella put on like 6inches that year in her chest
need to remeasure Gus to see about him
he is forever changing in his chest too..still is
Bella I think is almost maxed out
Bulldogs grow outwards until they are at least 3 someone posted
some longer then that too..
that's interesting!
I wonder how Audrey will change! I measure her frequently, I should re-measure her chest to see if it's grown. I made her a cute Halloween harness, that was the last time I measured her.
Cathy
when she first came home
she is young yet..those ribs spring out about 2 to 3 years thoug
Bella did not gain much weight but she sure got broad
about the 2 and half year mark
Gus is still expanding here yet..
I can see it all the time
Bella got fitted for her harness and she needed it much larger then a year before..
and she lost 6 pounds but that chest sure sprung out..
Audrey seems to be the same size since she was like 9 months old
except her head seems to be getting bigger. For a while her head was small compared to the rest of her, we used to call her Beetlejuice! SHe is much more proportionate now.
