Is this a growth? (pics)

I noticed this bump on Hurley's paw a little while ago. It kind of crept up on me because it grew in size very slowly. Then just the other day it started to bleed. Is this a growth that needs to be removed. It's probably time to take him to the vet, right?

Thanks.

Re: Yep

Hello,

Quick question. When Onslow's histiocytoma started to go away, what did it look like. Since Friday the growth on Hurley's paw has gotten more dryer and darker (before it was bright red and more soft). Could this be a sign that it has stopped growing and has begun to receded? Just curious. Thanks

P.S.

They can fill up with liquid and burst when they are inflamed. Hope this helps.

Sorry to respond so late but his got sort of dry and crusty before it fell off. Sorry for the gross description. LOL

Til Tuesday, I suggest

you read up, on the internet, about canine histocytomas so you will be somewhat familiar with this problem should the vet say this is what it is (my guess also). happy.gif

I think

that will be fine. Best wishes. =)

Thanks!

I already made a vet appointment for Tuesday morning. It can wait till then, right? Thanks again!

Yep

They will probably aspirate it.

Looks like a simple histiocytoma to me, Onslow had one on his elbow and it was easily treated with topical steroid - they likely occur on elbows etc where it rubs on the carpet and is common in younger dogs. You won't know for sure until they aspirate it though. Good luck!

Vet confirmed it's a histiocytoma ...

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that my vet said that Hurley's growth is just a histiocytoma and looks nothing like a mast cell tumor, which is good news. Since it has already begun to recede, we are just going to keep an eye on it over the next several weeks to see if it goes away on it's own. Unfortunately, as you had also suspected he does have demodex as well. I swear, if it's not one thing with these guys it's another!

Thanks again for the info!

Brandon
