I am in the process of changing my own eating patterns. I have really got a taste for fruit and veggies these days.
been trying some of them on the bullies..and most of them they will try..
do not feed grapes..or raisins
what kind of healthy treats do you feed your bullies?
lots of good dry ones out there on the market...but never tried any of them with much success. marrow bones are the only ones that Gus will even look at so far.
they do get big knuckle bones with marrow though on occasion.
open to some new suggestions

since this is really about Gus..lol since he is the fuss pot of the bunch..
he does loves yogurt though..
maybe try that
can you use all kinds of flavours???
I love the idea of yogurt though for him

I know people who have given garlic to their dogs for years and years, and I know people who have stopped giving it after reading some of the research. As for me, I still ingest refined sugar! lol

I know- I was surprised
I gave garlic to my dogs, too. And I know it's in some canine supplements and foods. But there is a school of thought that because garlic is in the allium family (like onions), there may be bad effects in larger amounts.

garlic too! LMAO!
Mia loves Garlic, well garlic salt. i use it as a seasoning when doing her home cooking. Actually garlic was one of the seasonings reccomended by K9 kitchen and other home cooking books for your dog.
I am going to ask Sabine. She will know.

Ice treat
I freeze a big block of ice in a plastic bowl for Spanky each day. I dump it out on the patio and he loves licking it, especially in the summer. He barks at the patio door to remind me that it is time for his "cool pop." I just use plain tap water.

I thought so, too
Cathy Miller posted a link on here about the avacado in response to a thread Ela1ne posted. I could swear it said more about toxicity other than the seeds. I remember Ela1ne was surprised, too because her dogs eat avacado from the neighbor's yard. I don't like avacado, so I didn't save it. lol
Maybe it's one of those "depends on amount" thingees like garlic?

avacados?
then why does avoderm use them in thier food and has for years.

I have given my dogs avacado slices many times as a treat. No problems. i thought it was just avacado seeds that are toxic?
Hummmm

Well, if you want them to sample what you're eating
My dogs also love carrots, apples, green beans (frozen), and some melons. They also enjoy dried cranberries.
They shouldn't eat avacado or onions in addition to grapes.

Hey, Al!
Good to see ya! Hugs to Brisket.
You should e-mail me pics of the baby (even though she's not a baby anymore...).

Ice cubes
Due to Brisket's allergies, he only gets ice cubes made from filtered water. He loves them, goes through 2 trays a day. Zero calories, he gets the satisfying crunch, they help clean his teeth, and he stays hydrated all year long.
All the best, Al and Brisket

Look up Zuke's treats. They have dehydrated fruit wrapped with chicken, and all sorts of stuff.
I like the Evo grain free treats or Innova small Health Bars, too.

knew about the onions but not the avocado's...
I do not like avocado's lol so that should not be an issue here.
Gus will try some vegetables..
but want something that I can take to his day long vet adventure..
that is easy for the vet to give him
they use the liver and since he does not like that..Gus is terrible for liking treats.
he is meat eater the most. steak, real turkey baked, real beef roast ..that kind of thing..lol
maybe some kind of cool dehydrated treats of some kind might work.just not liver.

WITH GUS and a day the vet..I had better find something..lol
the vet uses dried liver and I know Gus does not care about that much at all.
HE IS THE WORST ..lol for treats.. HE JUST IS not the treat kind of guy
he does like the marrow bones but I bet they are not that healthy..at all.
If all else fails cheese will work
Gus is a meat man..likes steak, and things like that..
was hoping to find something in a package that was easy for the vet to give him.
dried Duck might be another idea..not sure...
actually the deydrated meats might work since he is a meat guy..but he sure did not care about the liver..
the only good thing about trying different treats here on Gus. if he does not eat them, the rest might..lol
