George's IDC popped...
Submitted by Melissa and George on April 20, 2010 - 11:25pmis it going to be ok? He's had an IDC on and off for a little while now. It comes and then goes away for a few months and then pops up again the same spot. This last time it got really big and I came home the other day and there was blood all over his paw. Apparently it popped. It's looking smaller and not as inflamed now (and of course I cleaned it) but do you think it will be ok? Any suggestions?

My girl Butter gets these every so often...
When she does and it gets big and irritated... I always pop it open myself and put peroxide on it... The next morning I do the same and by that night it is completely gone!

Helen's treatment? I've heard about it so many times and when I try to search it, all I come up with is people talking about it...not the actual method!
I put him on some antibiotics just as a precaution for a few days, too.
I believe it's
One cup bleach to two gallons of warm water. Make sure the feet are dry before you allow him on the carpets!

Just wash it with an antibacterial soap (like Dial) twice a day and watch it.

If it comes back, you may want to try Helen's treatment of standing him in a bleach solution. I wouldn't do it now, though. Also, next time you're at your vet, ask for some animax ointment to keep on hand.
