Furminator and bathing questions
Submitted by summer on April 20, 2010 - 11:21pmMy vet sold me a Furminator to use on 8 year old Spanky. He has been shedding a lot and the new tool seems to work well to take off lots of fur. How often should I use it on him? I don't want him to go bald.
Also, how often should a senior, rather inactive bulldog be bathed. Our vet says no more than once a month. Is that right?

gets down to the undercoat. I do it very gently and I get a ton of hair off of Chester, but he still has a thick coat. Malaseb is a great shampoo, I use it for tear stains and tail pockets.

Does the furminator cut the fur? It seems to me like he loses more clumps of fur as I brush him with it. My vet sold me a shampoo called Malaseb. Thanks for any advice!

Gus is the shedder..I use the furminator too
I use the furminator on Gus and it does a good job.
I bath Gus about 2 times a month. also use an oatmeal bath here too
USE the furminator alot less now since winter is coming and the bullies are shedding lots less

I use the furminator almost everyday on Chester...
he seems to shed a lot. I also bathe our guys every other week, they get in the shower with me and I use a mild oatmeal shampoo on them. They sleep with me so they have to be squeeky clean lol.
