Re: found this info on Primal's website about the difference bet

I have fed my dog raw since she was 10 weeks old. Full chicken backs, chicken and turkey necks, pork necks, salmon heads, small trout (whole), ribs, you name it. If the bones are raw, they won't choke. Raw bones are soft and it takes them a while to chew them. Dogs have great gag reflex, if they can't swallow the bone they gag it back up and chew some more!

yah i agree eom

Me too!

I still can't picture myself giving Audrey whole chicken wings to munch on! I can give her the big ones that I know she can't bite off and swallow big pieces, but still watch her like a hawk while she's chewing on it.

they splinter and are a hazard when they are COOKED

but not when they are raw. At least that's what my understanding is. For larger bones same thing: cooked bones are brittle and will splinter. I am just at the tip of comprehending this, so maybe someone has a better way to expalin?

well now

i thought bulldogs were so susceptible to choking on bones, and i always thought chiken bones splintered and were a hazard? am i missing something here?
