does anyone use canned dog food? I am thinking about my two 12 yr old lab mixes. They have been on dry all their lives, have no issues except for arthritis. They smell Audrey's raw food and I feel bad putting a bowl of dry in front of them. I can NOT afford to feed all 3 raw, and Audrey is the only one with food realted issues. Just wondering if anyone has any canned food experience?

Re: food: canned vs, dry
There are some really great canned foods out there today. I feed my boy Wellness 95% meat and it's grain free. I mix it with Canidae grain free kibble. Wellness also makes a food called Simple Solutions that is just a meat with rice mixture. Canned food has come a long way and in the publication called the "Whole Dog Journal" they claim that canned food is better for your dog than dry. If your Lab mixes have arthritis check out this company called "Springtime" on the internet. They sell a product called "Longevity" that has helped my neighbors's labs with arthritis immensely. It comes in a powder and you sprinkle it in their food.
maybe , mix in a little wellness wet food
I mix a little wellness canned with my kibble. I use the 95% protein one as well... then sometimes the other mixed flavors for a little variety. 1-2 tablespoons goes a long way to add some extra flavor and it mixes easily with the kibble. my dogs especially like salmon, chicken, and turkey. when we come back from a long cold walk, i will heat it up in the microwave a little, or put it on top of warm rice w/kibble. They especially like it when I first open the can and give them a little of the layer of jelly (fat?) on top... I think its like that because it's cooked in the can.
