My Mya is a year next month, and has not a visible heat yet. BUT the last week she's been standing for my other female. If they stand does that mean they are in fact in heat? I understand it could be a "silent" heat, but wasn't sure if they stand even when they aren't in heat? Her body is physically developing as you can tell, just no bleeding yet. As she's about to be a year she is definitely acting like a late bloomer if anything. I know it can take up to 14 months for a first heat, but was just curious?
Thanks
Re: It may be that she's getting ready to start her cycle...
I just went through my first heat with Stella (not her first though) so I was a bit unsure how she was going to behave. About a week before hand though she started becoming possessive of EVERYTHING in the house and actually refusing to stand when ever another dog walked by. The about a week into it she was presenting herself to just about anything that walked past.

and the other dog can sense that thru odors, but I would expect that the "standing" and licking alone isn't enough to call a silent heat happening.
