As a first time owner of a bulldog I had a question about their eyes. Cooper is 5 months old and yesterday we were playing and it seemed as if one of his eyes was stuck up in his socket. He started walking around with it closed and everytime I tried to open it it seemed that the membrane under it was covering it . His eyes are droopy but I never noticed this before. I used clear eyes in case something was in it. This morning it seems ok . A little red but no discharge of any kind. Should I be concerned? Thanks for the help!!!
Thanks I used a presevative free solution for dryness
Thanks for your help I didn't realize that is what the third eye lid looked like. I made sure the drops weren't for redness and that they were preservative free. He seems to be using it fine today it looks a little red but his tend to be a little red especially when he is tired etc. Thanks again for the insight and I will definitly bring him to the vet if I notice any irritation!!!

Cautiously I say 'yes'...
The probably reason he kept that 3rd eyelid raised and the eye half-shut was that there was "irritation" on the corneal surface of his eye. Whether this was due to a scratch on something (his toenail, a bush, toy, etc.) or that he picked up some dust/dirt/sand that may have been flushed out by the addition of some drops, I couldn't say BUT if he isn't using the eye in its normal fashion today I would arrange a vet visit. The eyes are something we don't mess around with because the cornea can progress to "ulcer" if the irritation is not treated/stopped.
When you said you put some "clear eyes" drops in his eye, was that a product that says "gets the read out?" and if so, its safer to use just artificial tears (any brand name) because the 'red out' product has an astringent in it that dialates the small blood vessels in the eye, which does reduce/eliminate the bloodshot "red" appearance to the eye, and that's fine for minor allergic relief but its not a long-term solution to irritation from scratch to the cornea.
