Hello! Our breeder wants my pup on 500 mg of Ester-C daily. I stopped for about a week because he was having loose stools and was wondering if it was the culprit. Apparently it wasn't the cause. I'm thinking of putting him back on. Thoughts...?

to find the correct dose of vit c you start with 1/2 of what the bottle states, then in crease by 1/2 daily until diarrhea or loose stools then cut back by 1/2 - 1 until firm stools.
Since it's water soluable and not stored in the fat they will pee out the extra.
I know an excess of Vit C in humans...
causes loose stool. Maybe you should start off with a smaller dose and then work up to the 500 mg.
SAME AS IN DOGS

Re: We give it to our guys every day...
How much ester-c do you give your guys and what was the dosage when they were pups?
Re: I know an excess of Vit C in humans...
Thanks for the advice! Since my pup already has loose stool I'll try half a dose and work my way up to make sure he's okay.
We give it to our guys every day...
helps with a lot of things.
