Ear Infection

So Stella has an yeast infection in her ear and one side of her nose rope. Any suggestions on things to help her not be so itchy. The vet gave her Ottomax (spelling) drops but she still is a really itchy. She's actually scratched herself pretty bad and it looks like she has some carpet burn behind the ear. Any recommendations on something to make her less itchy?

Re: Benedryl will usually help with itchiness...

She just under 50lbs. I just gave her 25 to start and she seems a lot better. Thanks for the reply

Yes, I agree, to have you try Benadryl both AM and PM.

Depending on the age/weight of your bulldog (if she's at least 1yr old and 40bs or more, give her two tablets, both morning and evening....that's my recommendation. After 2-3 days, I'd taper off to one tablet each time, then down to one per day. Its not like Prednisone, where you must taper off gradually, but doing so will help you get a picture of how the itch is reducing along with the medication taking hold. happy.gif

Benedryl will usually help with itchiness...

she could have 2 25mg pills if she's over 50 pounds. They will probably make her sleepy at first.
