does anyone use apple cidar vinegar??

i remember reading a while back that someone (can't remember who) used 1 tblsp of apple cider vinegar in the drinking water for different skin issues?? my cooper has had chin acne on & off for a while & monday he got an idc & his face wrinkles are red & irritated, grrrr. i haven't switched anything, but my sister babysat saturday, but swears she didn't give him anything different. it's possible he could have gotten into something & she didn't know. anyway, he's fine every other way- just the skin irritations. so my question is can the apple cider vinegar in the water help any of this? thanks for any info =)

becky's picture

so it doesn't have to be given daily

for it to effect them? how many mg do you give? thanks for the info!

I use it......

...... about twice a week. No acne or dry skin. If it's staph I use Ketochlor shampoo every 2 days for atleast 3 applications and it's gone. MUST leave on for atleast 15 mins.

ACV

I have used ACV for a few years now and have noticed a big improvement in the dogs all around. No ear infections, coat is great and tear stains are minimal. I heard about it a couple of years ago for the improvment of fertility. Ok, I laughed but I had a female who had very abnormal to minimal bleeding when in heat who didn't take twice with a surgical and started adding ACV to their food and she had 8 healthy puppies. Call it coincidence but she did. People laugh but it helped so what the heck it can't hurt and does improve other problems. Here's the link for reading. They also had flank alopecia every year and I have the proof in their coats also. BTW these were my mastiffs and am going to start my bulldogs on it also...LOL

ACV Tablets

LDeLeo's picture

Am going through this with Lola

took her to the vets yesterday and they gave her a shot of dexamethasone and benedryl, looks so much better this morning. She was raw and red all over her face, she was rubbing it everywhere, so itchy.

i've never heard of them

that would be a lot easier! i hope someone has tried them!

Anyone ever tried the vinegar tablets?

Know that you can buy them and thinking this might be easier (and better tasting) just wondering if anyone has tried them and if this way works as well as liquid.
Thanks

cool! thanks!

i'm adding geneflora (probiotics) to his food now, do you think it would matter if i gave him both until it's gone. i wasn't going to buy more anyway cuz i'm not too impressed with it.

ACV

Actually I put it in their food but I started with just a few drops so they got used to it then a teaspoon. Hey it sure can't hurt as it is a proven fact that it has a ton of antioxidants and we know that is good for us. I don't know if they would take it in their water. Good luck for sure. It really did work for me. My dogs had that flank alopecia and haven't gotten it back in the 2 years of using it. I have pictures I'll post later. (-:

LOL!! I was just thinking he needed the back up "beep" when I re

in your post!! LOL

Well Dixie is my rescue, but she has long forgotten her humble beginnings in "the big house" - she is the total princess and yes, we wipe all her extremities, as she expects us to, and then usually give her a spritz of doggie perfume spray too, just to freshen her up!! LOL

She sleeps on her own king size pillow behind my head and when she needs to go potty at night, she sits next to my side of the bed and barks as if to say "get up woman, I have to go"!!

Jen its not just the face that needs to be wiped on...

occasion...and when he needs it done....he will turn that butt right to me....and if its a sunday and if i am in bed reading the paper...he backs up like a trailor tractor....if he had back up lights and a beeping noise he would be in heaven!!!!!!
my three rescues are gratful for everything i do...wilson who i have had since he was 12 wks is a spoiled self centered brat...and the world revolves around him and only him....

oh, Judy - I'm afraid we're "cut from the same cloth".....my dea

I hand fed Twister & Dixie these last few days...

Dixie has to take a couple of scripts morning and night and I've been hiding her pills in her ground raw, so it makes it easier to hand feed her the pills, then I end up doing the rest of her meal when she gives me those big sad moo eyes like "aren't you going to feed me the rest Mama"?

and if Twister is slow to eat in the morning because he's distracted by other things, then I often find myself sitting on the kitchen floor with him and fork feeding him until it's all gone - since I'm usually running late, it benefits me too! LOL

and how often do we wipes their faces after a drink too! LOL

i've heard that it can be used for so many different

things. just not sure about the difference of ingesting it or applying it topically? hope it works for your dixie!
p.s. post more pics of twister soon- i just love that pooch!

yes i am a brat and my mommy loves me

judy wilson's picture

a teaspoon in the water...

is good for coat problems...i use it to prevent fleas...i add a teaspoon in the water....every day
i change my dogs water 4 times a day to ensure freshness...and wilson will not drink stale water....i add a teaspoon each time...

flbulldogmom's picture

I've heard that had good properties to it too....I've also heard

rinsing your bulldog in white vinegar helps with staph infection....I'm dealing with staph on Dixie right now, got the brand x version of Maleseb shampoo to bathe her once a week and a friend said to take a picture and pour 1 cup of white vinegar in it and then fill the rest with water and mix -

use this mixture to pour over dog once shampoo is rinsed off....I'll give it a try and let ya know how it works! LOL

thanks! if it won't hurt

i'll try it for a few days & see if i notice a difference.

becky's picture

yuck! i hope not!

i was hoping he would be allergy free! yeah right! i did think of that, but it came on so fast. like, fine one day, yucky the next. but i'm in wisconsin & we're just starting real spring weather & things are budding, so it's probably allergies. i'm still hoping he ate something weird =) i think i'll try the vagisil wipes. i'll make my husband buy them! just kidding! thanks!

We used the apple cider vinegar for Bladder infections

and related UTI's. Katie had a on going Bladder infections that meds weren't helping. Vet suggested 1/2 a tsp over her food for 3-4 days to help bring the PH back inline. Seems to be working....

onslowsmom's picture

Sounds like it could be seasonal allergies

I know Cooper is still young so this is probably his first spring. I've never tried the vinegar in the water thing but I hope Coopie feels better.

Sometimes there's nothing you can do to help it. =( What we have been doing for Onslow is wiping his yeasty parts with Vagisil wipes, and giving him oatmeal baths with tea tree oil and trying to wipe his feet when he comes in as much as possible. Good luck.
