Dale's final chapter - RIP Good Girl

Dale died in her sleep last evening just 9 days short of her 13th birthday. I knew she was ready to go as she didn't want to eat the past 48hrs and I had to coax 1-2T. food into her a few times a day but I did manage to slip in some pain meds to ease her struggle. If you want to read 'her story' look at the Home Page, Hall of Fame, August 2009 where she was BOM. Her final chapter...she remained resolute and sweet to the end. Its too quiet here this morning...I miss you already, Sweetheart.

i am so sorry.... heaven needed more angels again :(

your story made me cry... you must have taken excellent care of her to have her even around 13 years! i am sure she had a wonderful lifetime with you... no worries, she is with the rest of the bullies now and chasing lizards and fighting skunks again!

Prayers for you and Dale

You gave her a beautiful life and she will always be watching out for you across the rainbow bridge.Would love to read her story but the sight won't open, just her smiling pic in her wagon--rip sweet lady

Thank you, Judy, for those sweet sentiments.

Too quiet

She has not left you, of course, because she never will. To enjoy a long life, well-lived, in a loving home...Dale was a very lucky gal. I will think of you in the quiet tonight, Ela1ne.

RIP dear Dale

You were loved dearly by many. Elaine, sincere condolences.

from Aug 2009 BOM recognition of Dale...

DALE

If I had to choose one word that would describe this bully bitch it would be stubborn. Dale was one of two pups from a litter I bred twelve and a half years ago; hubby named them Chip & Dale. While Dale thrived, unfortunately Chip died young. I tried showing her at 2yo but alas, she had 75-lb ears on a 50-lb body so she retired to my multi-dog household holding the role of perpetual puppy. There was a time when her half-sib sister together with mama-dog totaled 3 bitches and it was a little crazy around here, but Dale held her own! My favorite nickname for her is Monkey. I bred her once to a stud I co-owned, and kept one pup as payment for leasing her to a friend; that pup was my dear departed Otis. Dale and Otis slept together and lived side-by-side since his birth. He outweighed her but she kept him in line and groomed him constantly. It was nothing unusual to see Dale standing her ground against a discharging skunk, or upending trashcans in pursuit of a lizard or rabbit. In the summers she would steal avocados from a neighbors tree. She defended her yard against man or beast, and was nearly chewed to death by 2 marauding dogs earlier this year. Im thankful she fought her way back to health. Now in her twilight years her weakened rear severely limits her activity. Dale gets carted around the yard in her little red wagon and spends most of her time dreaming of those chasing days while lolling on a pile of quilts. She fully understands my requests to pee-on-command but she insists on sniffing the treat before she will take even one stepyes, Dale is one stubborn little bitch, and I love her that way.

I WROTE HER FINAL CHAPTER ABOVE, IN ANNOUNCING HER PASSING. Each of my bullies have had their special characteristics, and Dale was a personality all to herself. She mellowed even more in her last months but her eyes smiled at me each time we met.

RIP Sweet girl.
