Boozer is almost 6 months now, when we got him at 11 weeks the breeder mentioned that he has an undescended testicle, when he was 6 weeks both of his 'berries' were up there undescended but one already made its way down to the right spot while the other one is still up there.
The vet mentioned that when we neutered him she will have to dig further and look for the lost one.
I called the breeder a couple of months ago and she mentioned that all of her bullies had two testicles even if took a little longer.
Last time the vet mentioned that she thought she felt the lost testicle and it was almost there, but she couldn't feel it the last time we had a visit.
We are not really excited to neuter him since we were thinking about showing him down the road but it won't be a disaster if he ended being neutered.
Did any of you had the experience with cryptorchidism? Would it be possible for the second testicle to go all the way down if Boozer will be turning 6 months next week?
Thanks in advance,
Tom
Tom, JAckson had this and I ended up neutering
him at about 11 mos. I could see the undescended testicle when he would lie on his back,so I pointed that out to the vet and sure enough, it was stuck up there. No digging around which was great for him!
Re: Cryptorchidism
I've had a male drop around 6 months. Things you can try are massage, try collecting him and letting him sniff a girl in season. There is also a supplement you can try that ICSB uses for older males to help their sperm count.(perna mussel) I can't say if it works or not-
The male I had was a very nice male that I also wanted to show, but after I started thinking about it, I decided not to show him or use him for breeding, because I was afraid it might end up being a problem in future generations. (very disappointing having a beautiful male with only one testicle) He had a short cord.
I have a pug here..that it desended way late...
well after 6 months.
and just all of a sudden down it was
just kinda like that..
but he was well over 6 months..
we were going to neuter him and the vet decided to wait a bit and see ..would make the surgery a bit easier on him
and then he came down and he was neutered...
More than likely...
if it isn't totally descended now, it won't be. Especially at almost 6 months. Stinks I know. But a dog can't be shown without both testicles. Just love him for the adoreable boy that he is and have him neutered.
And just b/cause a breeder has never had it, doesn't mean it won't rear up at some point. I have always been told by more older and more experienced breeders, if you have been breeding long enough, you will see everything.
