HI Tiffany, I actually have only posted a few times. I love this forum and read it every day but can not figure how to post photos so I only post questions now and then. I would probably post more often but it is frustrating when I can not get my photos to appear. I live in NY so I will try to put that near my name in the future if I post!!!

Hi Katherine.... Some pharmacies are offering two-week supplies and refills of certain (not all) antibiotics for free as some kind of promotion. My Shop-Rite pharmacy has been giving us free cephalexin and doxycyline since the summer. I was surprised...thought it was a mistake....told them it's for a dog...they said no problem! Hope it continues! Best wishes, Micki

Most vets carry this medication (trade name Keflex)in both 250mg and 500mg tablets or capsules. If the animal is young, under 6mos and perhaps under 40lbs the dosing may be 1000mg daily, divided into either 2 or 4 doses. If the dog is adult and at least 50lbs the common dosing is 500mg three times a day, and best given with food. Its a "wide-spectrum" antibiotic and pretty well-tolerated by most dogs. If you dog seems to get an upset stomach you may want to give probiotics along with this medication but ask you vet.

it says 1 x a day. at least its enough for the week, i will deal with it after the snow. $5.00 for 2 weeks supply sure beats what the vet has used in the past. 3 weeks for $150. plus the visit and eye ointments. it was over $400.

We were just at the vet on Tuesday for coopers chin acne. It will not seem to clear up it Keeps bleeding so I was worried. She prescribed cephalexin 500 mg 1 pill three times a day. He weighed 64 lbs and Is only 10 mths old.(omg). So maybe that will help you. He has never been on an antibiotic but he seems to be ok on it so far. Hopefully Bubba feels better soon!!!!!

500mgs 2x's a day is what my vet usually prescribes. With food.
I give in a little smidge of Velveeta at breakfast and dinner
I don't rescue animals because I want to feel better about myself, or morally superior to anyone. The best part of my life with animals is the humility they teach and the humanity the foster.
