Bump on Gus's Ankle

I awoke this morning to see a large fluid filled bump on Gus's ankle area. It was oozing some fluid. I am not sure what happened, perhaps a bug bite? I applied a warm compress to help expell whatever is in there.
Any suggestions on what I should do? Should I rish him to the vet? soak in epsom salts?

Well after a few days the abcess ruptured. Gus has an appointment with the Vet at 12:30. Please say a prayer that it is nothing serious

It could be a
histiocytoma. I would have the vet aspirate it to find out, if it doesn't go away on it's own shortly. If it is, it's not serious at all, will usually go away on its own or with a topical steroid. Onslow had one on his elbow and it went away in a month with the steroids. They said it was from rubbing the elbow on the floor, causing an irritation.
